Solo Project Sep 2014

In the hot summer of 2014, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge spread over the internet. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that causes muscle weakness and atrophy. As a human being, there is almost nothing more terrifying and hopeless than existing in a non-responsive state. This body lock serves as a wearable sculpture, which allows the participants to lock themselves up gradually from ankle to head, to experience total immobility and separation.

It provides people with a choice to be locked. It reflects our obligated conditions in this fast moving, industrialized society. At same time, it arouses the public's awareness and attention for the group of people that are forced into the isolated state.
